NGTC Competitive Team’s goal is to expand and increase every child’s skill level as safely and as quickly as possible. NGTC is not only aware and concerned about physical well-being, but also mental, emotional, and psychological. Gymnastics is just as much a physical sport as it is a mental sport. The practices include numerous drills for flexibility, balance, muscular strength, muscular stability, cardiovascular and muscular endurance, agility, speed, and coordination. The Competitive Team practices anywhere from 6 to 22 hours per week, 2-5 days per week. NGTC Competitive gymnasts set aside hours of their time towards reaching their goals. During the competitive season, they may also spend several weekends away per month at competitive meets.
